In tonight’s 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days episode, Meisha had thought she was off to a great start with Nicola. She was worried that him being a virgin would mean he wouldn’t want to be affectionate with her. Nicola has chosen to save himself for marriage and Meisha wasn’t sure if a marriage could work between them if he didn’t know how to play with her much wasn’t willing to learn.
She therefore used this trip to test out his boundaries. Only Meisha needn’t have worried about affection. It didn’t seem to be a problem with Nicola because he was willing to flirt with her. He hugged her. He kissed her. He didn’t even mind sharing a room with her.
It was in two sperate beds, but he did it. They fell asleep holding hands and Meisha comforted herself with the idea that Nicola was really a great guy. He was great right until she got to learn more about him. Meisha visited him for that exact purpose and so now she realizes that Nicola wasn’t an honest person.
Nicola may have been interested in her. He may even be considering marrying her. He just wasn’t willing to be honest with either her or his family. He was lying to his family about her. Nicola hasn’t told his family that Meisha was a divorcee.
Nicola let his family believe that Meisha was a virgin. Like him. They didn’t know she was married before or that she has two kids. It was one thing for him to deny her previous marriage only lying about her kids was a red flag that no good mother can ignore. Nicola lied by omission with his family.
He also didn’t tell Meisha that he was hiding this from them until she asked to meet them. She wanted to meet his loved ones. She wanted to hear stories about his childhood. She didn’t know that he was lying to her about them and that he was lying to them about her.
If the two sides ever met, the house of cards would come falling down. Meisha flew all the way to Israel because she thought she would be welcomed into his life, but it seems he’s too cowardly to be honest with anyone.
He also has this nervous laugh which made confronting him rather difficult. He kept trying to laugh everything away while she was expressing serious concerns. It made her feel like he was barely listening. Meisha had to tell him that no marriage was going ahead if he didn’t tell his family the complete truth.
Back in the States, Tyray was himself finally realizing he’d been lied to. Tyray had deluded himself into believing that Carmella was real. He held onto that belief in spite hearing from various sources that Carmella wasn’t real and was in fact a man. Only Tyray wouldn’t listen.
It got so bad that his sister was genuinely worried for him. Lashanti knew that her brother needed a wakeup call. She reverse image search for photos that this person sent to Tyray and she found out the photos were of an escort that actually lived near them. The guy didn’t even bother stealing photos of women actually in the Caribbean.
The catfish found photos of an American. They were a bit hard to find because the real woman didn’t want to be found out by the cops and so Lashanti showed the real photos to Tyray.
She even showed him the real woman’s phone number. They can call the number if they want to hear the real person. Or they could finally listen to the voicemail from the catfish that has him admitting to be a catfish. Either way, Tyray can no longer lie to himself about Carmella. She wasn’t real and he admits that now.
The photos were the one thing that got through to him. Tyray tossed his phone away after he saw those photos. He said no good came from him using that phone. He got onto the dating apps through his phone and so he wanted nothing to do with it after finding out his dream girl was a hooker.
He finally saw that there wasn’t hope for him with this catfish. He couldn’t keep lying to himself. He couldn’t pretend that Carmella’s ex-boyfriend had lied about her not being real. Or that she was in prison. He had told himself that at one point and that was the thing that ultimately pushed Lashanti into doing an extensive image search.
Lashanti had hope that Tyray was finally being honest with himself. Or she did until he mentioned that this Victor could be Carmella’s pimp. He walked back everything he said after seeing the photos. His mistake was going after his cell phone. It happened after the commercial break and hence the quick turnaround. Forgive your author! It was the damn phone that got him into more trouble. He wanted to call the number listed on the escort’s page. He wanted to talk to “Carmella”. He got so bad that his own sister called him deluded. She admitted that she wanted to shake him at one point and so him getting that phone back was a sign. It was a sign that Tyray was willing to do anything other than admit he was a fool.
The guys were on fire with their lies tonight. Christian was another poor fool lying to himself. He thought his transphobic family would be fine with him dating a trans woman. He thought they would see his deep feelings for Cleo and would just want him to be happy. He failed to see that his deeply conservative family would hate everyone that’s different. Sure, there were signs. They probably said or did things to express this transphobic attitude long before Christian had ever seen Cleo’s photo yet he still believed they loved him more than they hate trans people.
Christian was of course wrong. He told one family member that Cleo was trans. It soon got out to the rest of the family and suddenly everyone was coming down on him like a ton of bricks. People were calling him to say how “disgusting” people like Cleo were. There was also someone who issued him an ultimatum. Christian chose and defended Cleo the whole time. It didn’t matter to him if he lost family members along the way. He told himself that his friends can be chosen family. And even his open-minded friends knew that Christian was lying to himself about cutting ties with those people
Chris was all talk. He was close to his family before this and he still wanted to be close to them. Which is why he started distancing himself from Cleo without really noticing. Cleo noticed though. She noticed that he went from talking about kissing to saying they’ll play it by ear. He didn’t want to commit to anything. He didn’t want to commit to Cleo. Christian let some of what his family has been saying through and now it was hard not to hear criticism when just before then he had been so in love.
But there was some glimmer of hope. Amanda acknowledged that she might be putting too much pressure on her Romanian boyfriend. She expected him to instantly fit into a fatherly role as well as husbandly role and this relationship is brand new. She was in a rush to put responsibilities on him. She saw that for herself after she had to remind him about what her kids would think if they saw him kissing someone else in a music video. The words flew out of her mouth before she noticed and it just reminded her of her late husband. And that Razvan wasn’t Jason, he doesn’t owe her anything at this stage in their relationship.
David was also another one that was doing well. He was deaf. He communicates through ASL. His girlfriend Sheila knew some ASL. She just didn’t know enough to have a full on conversation with him and so they must have used apps or the camera crew to communicate when David went to go see her. Only things went smoothly. They couldn’t do much on his first day. They just got dinner and they went back to David’s rental in order to spend some alone time. You know away from the cameras that have been following them nonstop since they saw each other in person. And so the problem tonight was that with every bit of David and Sheila – there was Gino and Jasmine.
Gino and Jasmine both said things that were extremely hurtful towards the other. She called him an old sad man. He told her that she was bad at sex and that’s why she wasn’t with her ex. They later cried about what happened. They apologized for what happened. And now Gino was backing away from the prenup idea because he didn’t want to lose Jasmine.
And poor Riley still couldn’t see that his girlfriend Violet was barely interested in him. She always had plans for why she couldn’t spend the day with him and it was just Riley that couldn’t see how bad things were between them.
